{"id":1269,"date":"2018-01-20T19:04:17","date_gmt":"2018-01-21T00:04:17","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/elainecarroll.ca\/wordpress\/?p=1269"},"modified":"2018-01-20T19:05:03","modified_gmt":"2018-01-21T00:05:03","slug":"beef-stew","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/elainecarroll.ca\/wordpress\/?p=1269","title":{"rendered":"Beef Stew"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Who doesn&#8217;t love stew?\u00a0 Especially when it&#8217;s cold out, nothing warms and soothes quite like it.\u00a0 Here&#8217;s how I do mine in our 6 qt Instant Pot (IP).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ingredients<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>about 3 lbs beef, cubed, trimmed of fat<\/li>\n<li>about 5 med. potatoes, cubed<\/li>\n<li>1 small bag of baby carrots<\/li>\n<li>about 4 or 5 stalks of celery, cut up in chunks<\/li>\n<li>2 large onions, cut in eighths<\/li>\n<li>Other veggies (optional, just watch your IP space limits)<\/li>\n<li>4 c water<\/li>\n<li>2 packets gravy (I usually use French&#8217;s) or make a thickening agent of water, salt, and flour<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Preparation<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<p>Set the IP to\u00a0the\u00a0saut\u00e9 setting and let the beef brown while you prepare the veggies.\u00a0 Turn the beef a couple of times to get both sides browned.\u00a0 Add vegetables and water to the IP.\u00a0 Cover and set to &#8220;Meat&#8221; setting and let it pressure cook for 45 minutes.\u00a0 Everything will be so tender when it&#8217;s done.\u00a0 I do a quick release when it&#8217;s done.\u00a0 Remove cover and set to saut\u00e9.\u00a0 Add gravy packets or thickening agent and stir well.\u00a0 Let the gravy heat a little for about 10 minutes.\u00a0 Give it one final stir and serve.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Who doesn&#8217;t love stew?\u00a0 Especially when it&#8217;s cold out, nothing warms and soothes quite like it.\u00a0 Here&#8217;s how I do mine in our 6 qt Instant Pot (IP).
