{"id":1274,"date":"2018-03-10T15:52:37","date_gmt":"2018-03-10T20:52:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/elainecarroll.ca\/wordpress\/?p=1274"},"modified":"2018-12-08T20:49:18","modified_gmt":"2018-12-09T01:49:18","slug":"beans","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/elainecarroll.ca\/wordpress\/?p=1274","title":{"rendered":"Beans"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/elainecarroll.ca\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/beans.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-1276\" src=\"https:\/\/elainecarroll.ca\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/beans-283x300.jpg\" alt=\"beans\" width=\"283\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/elainecarroll.ca\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/beans-283x300.jpg 283w, https:\/\/elainecarroll.ca\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/beans-966x1024.jpg 966w, https:\/\/elainecarroll.ca\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/beans.jpg 1836w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 283px) 100vw, 283px\" \/><\/a> I made beans in our 6 qt Instant Pot (IP).\u00a0 They turned out really well!\u00a0 It didn&#8217;t make too much and 4 of us ate well from it with leftovers remaining at the end.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Note:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I\u00a0now have an 8 quart IP.\u00a0 You can easily make a whole bag of dry beans (about 4 cups) with it, just double the recipe.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ingredients<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span class=\"wprm-recipe-ingredient-unit\">2 c<\/span>\u00a0<span class=\"wprm-recipe-ingredient-name\">pinto beans<\/span>\u00a0<span class=\"wprm-recipe-ingredient-notes\">dry, rinsed<\/span><\/li>\n<li>6\u00a0<span class=\"wprm-recipe-ingredient-unit\">c<\/span>\u00a0<span class=\"wprm-recipe-ingredient-name\">water<\/span><\/li>\n<li>1 tsp salt<\/li>\n<li>1 500 g pack of bacon (cut in 1&#8243; slices, you can use peameal bacon, ham, or any pork really)<\/li>\n<li>2 medium sliced\u00a0<span class=\"wprm-recipe-ingredient-name\">onion<\/span><\/li>\n<li>3\/4\u00a0<span class=\"wprm-recipe-ingredient-unit\">c<\/span>\u00a0<span class=\"wprm-recipe-ingredient-name\">molasses<\/span><\/li>\n<li>2 tbsp\u00a0packed\u00a0<span class=\"wprm-recipe-ingredient-name\">brown Splenda<\/span>\u00a0(1\/4 c if using regular brown sugar)<\/li>\n<li>1\/2\u00a0<span class=\"wprm-recipe-ingredient-unit\">c<\/span>\u00a0<span class=\"wprm-recipe-ingredient-name\">ketchup<\/span><\/li>\n<li>1\/2\u00a0<span class=\"wprm-recipe-ingredient-unit\">tsp<\/span>\u00a0<span class=\"wprm-recipe-ingredient-name\">salt<\/span><\/li>\n<li>1\/4\u00a0<span class=\"wprm-recipe-ingredient-unit\">tsp<\/span>\u00a0<span class=\"wprm-recipe-ingredient-name\">garlic\u00a0powder<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Preparation<\/strong>: Put first 3 ingredients in the Instant Pot (IP) and pressure cook for 60 min.\u00a0 Slice bacon and onions, set aside.\u00a0 Make mixture with remaining\u00a0ingredients.\u00a0 When the IP has finished its cycle, release pressure naturally or quickly, it doesn&#8217;t matter.\u00a0 Drain beans (there won&#8217;t be much water left) and set aside in a big bowl (or keep them in the same insert while you use another insert for the bacon and onions).\u00a0 In the IP, add bacon and onions, saut\u00e9e until onions are soft and bacon is fairly cooked (not crispy).\u00a0 Add beans and molasses mixture to IP, stir gently to mix everything, and pressure cook for another 20 min.\u00a0 \u00a0Serve hot or cold; the beans are awesome either way.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I made beans in our 6 qt Instant Pot (IP).\u00a0 They turned out really well!\u00a0 It didn&#8217;t make too much and 4 of us ate well from it with leftovers remaining at the end.
