{"id":256,"date":"2009-04-29T21:50:24","date_gmt":"2009-04-30T02:50:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/elainecarroll.ca\/wordpress\/?p=256"},"modified":"2014-12-26T12:29:47","modified_gmt":"2014-12-26T17:29:47","slug":"nannys-fruit-cake","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/elainecarroll.ca\/wordpress\/?p=256","title":{"rendered":"Nanny&#8217;s Fruit Cake"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;ve had this and it&#8217;s goooooood \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n<p>Ingredients<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>2 c flour<\/li>\n<li>1 tsp baking powder<\/li>\n<li>1 tsp cinnamon<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 tsp cloves<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 tsp ginger<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 nutmeg<\/li>\n<li>1 c brown sugar<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 c margarine<\/li>\n<li>1 egg<\/li>\n<li>1 tbsp molasses<\/li>\n<li>1 c sour milk (you can use fresh milk &amp; add 1 tbsp lemon juice)<\/li>\n<li>1 tsp soda dissolved in sour milk<\/li>\n<li>1 tsp vanilla<\/li>\n<li>2 c raisins<\/li>\n<li>2 c chopped dates<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 c walnuts<\/li>\n<li>1 small jar red cherries (drained and cut into halves)<\/li>\n<li>1 small jar green cherries (drained and cut into halves)<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 c brandy or sherry (optional)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Preparation:<\/p>\n<p>Prepare fruits the night before by mixing together the last 6 ingredients (this includes the brandy or sherry if it&#8217;s there) in\u00a0a bowl and refrigerate.<\/p>\n<p>Sift together the first 6 ingredients. Mix all ingredients (sifted items, fruits, and remaining items) together well in a large\u00a0bowl. Grease 2 loaf pans and line with wax paper. Split mixture to put into both pans. Put brown paper over the loaf pans and bake at\u00a0325 degrees F for 3\/4 hour. Remove brown paper and continue baking for another 1\/2 hour at 325 F.
