When they would start to dry out after being baked a few days, Mom would just throw\u00a0a slice of bread in the container with the cookies and they would soften right up. They were so good&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Ingredients:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>1\/2 c. shortening<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 c. white sugar<\/li>\n<li>1\/4 c. brown sugar<\/li>\n<li>1 beaten egg<\/li>\n<li>1 tsp vanilla<\/li>\n<li>1 c. flour<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 tsp. baking soda<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 tsp. baking powder<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 tsp. salt<\/li>\n<li>1 c. chocolate chips<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Preparation:<\/p>\n<p>Blend well the shortening, white and brown sugar until it&#8217;s a creamy texture. Add the vanilla and beaten egg and mix. Blend in\u00a0the flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt. Mix well then fold in the chocolate chips. Spoon onto a greased cooking sheet and flatten.<\/p>\n<p>Again I didn&#8217;t get the baking time and temperature but try 350 degrees for 15 minutes. If they&#8217;re still not done, leave them in and check every 5 minutes until cooked.
